In response to Glen E. This is an out right lie! We had a written prescription waiting for you. We don't purchase product from unknown vendors i.e. online pharmacies. We can not support online pharmacies because they are a 3rd party vendor and we do not know and can not guarantee that the products are genuine. However, if you as an individual want to purchase medication from an unknown resource then you could have come to pickup the script and gotten it yourself. We always strive to treat all our pets with the highest standards and quality product. The doctor wrote out a prescription and we were waiting for you to pick it up. This is truly to help protect you and your dog.

I'll just let the NYS Veterinary Board handle from here.

Glen what you are failing to understand is that we never denied you the medication or the script. We only look to protect our cleints and their pets. The cost of the medication is a minimal markup for us. Our product costs us more to purchase because it is purchased through the proper reputable vendors. You must understand that many times medication purchased online can not be traced to a source. Honestly you placing more than one rating on Google doesn't matter to us because we feel strongly about what we do. However, trying to communicate with you is important to us. We want to make sure you are making an informed decision when it comes to caring for your pets. We encourage and welcome constructive feedback so we can ensure that we provide the best level of care that we possibly can.

It's the job of the veterinary doctor to provide the prescription whether it is picked up, mailed, emailed, or sent to the pharmaceutical company of the patients choice. I do not ever recall my doctor telling me where to fill my prescriptions? Or, refusing to to send them to Costco, Walgreens, CVS, or any other viable online option that is affordable to the patient. Maybe if Island Vet didn't more than double the cost of the medicine without any reason, we wouldn't be this situation. such as shame.

I am always happy with my visits here and would certainly recommend to others.

Around 3 years ago, my young kitty was diagnosed with Megacolon, knocked out, gaven 7 or 8 enemas and was sent home with instructions for him high-fiber food after a bag of prescription food. A few month later, we were back, same deal, and the doc said that if it happened again and I couldn't afford surgery (which he claimed was unlikely to help) he would PUT MY CAT DOWN!!!

I love Dr.B. and staff. They always take the time to help me out with my 2 dogs. She fixed my dog's acl and he was back to normal in no time.

I love that I feel educated on my baby's condition and I've never felt more comfortable trusting someone else with his well being. I am so thankful I found Dr. Balbour and it terrifies me to think if I had return to the other vet, I may not have my baby with me today! I DEFINITELY ALWAYS RECOMMEND DR. BALBOUR!

Thank you for your inappropriate response, as well as inaccurate summation, as it speaks volumes to the type of terrible customer service your facility provides. I am glad you put it right out there for all to see just how unprofessional you are. As New York State Law states in section 29.1 (b) (2), ...unprofessional conduct includes exercising undue influence on the patient or client, including the promotion of the sale of services, goods, appliances or drugs in such a manner as to exploit the patient or client for financial gain of the practitioner or of a third party.

Dear Chris from Island Veterinary Hospital (not really sure who you are, but I'll answer your reply with another 1 star rating...I could keep going forever with these ratings in response..hope online ratings do not matter to Dr. Balbour),

I met a staff member from Island Veterinary Hospital through a family friend, who encouraged me to come in for a second opinion, where Dr. Balbour educated me on Megacolon. The prescription food must be continued for the cat's lifespan, and store bought, high fiber foods actually make it worse! When that wasn't enough, she gently cleaned him out and prescribed oral Lactolose. She assured me that if that wasn't enough, laser surgery as a last resort is often unnecessary, but highly effective.

Every once in a while, Romeo gets "stuck" again, but I no longer have immense fear that if I bring him in for treatment I will come home without him. The staff adore him and consistently tell me what a loving kitty I have, which makes me feel really good as his owner! :) They always answer my phone calls and questions (which are quite frequent sometimes, to be honest..) with care and patience, and Dr. Balbour even personally speaks to me, to inform me of how he he did/is doing whenever I have to drop him off for a night.
